Surveyed American parents want their kids to study crypto in school. These crypto parents make up 64% of all surveyed parents.

According to a recent study by Study.com, 64% of US parents believe cryptocurrency should be included in their children’s schooling. Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are not popular among parents, with only 25% believing they should be incorporated into school programs.

Eric Adams, the mayor of New York City, is likewise a supporter of similar educational reforms. He described cryptocurrencies as a “new means of paying for products and services all across the world” last year, and as such, students should learn about them and the technology that powers them.

Crypto Education In School

Almost two-thirds of the 800 American parents polled agreed that cryptocurrency should be taught in schools. 40% of respondents feel their children should also study blockchain technology, while 35% believe the Metaverse should be included. NFTs were placed last because just 25% of parents feel their children should be aware of them.

When it comes to crypto education, 24% of parents believe it should begin in high school, while 19% believe it should begin in middle school. 28% of respondents say that studying digital assets is more essential than studying design, and 26% believe that courses like architecture and art history should be swapped.

Surprisingly, 68% of the parents acknowledged to owning cryptocurrencies. They have donated an average of $766 to their children’s future education through investment gains.

Furthermore, according to a poll conducted by Study.com, 67% of college graduates believe cryptocurrencies should be taught in schools, while 36% believe blockchain technology should be included.

“Like the parents we surveyed, most college grads had crypto investments and believed cryptocurrency should be part of a student’s education. Over one-third of graduates also thought schools should incorporate the Metaverse and blockchain into the curriculum. They were somewhat more on the fence about NFTs, though,” the company stated.

It is worth noting that the great majority of graduates (86%) consider formal knowledge of new currencies and technological breakthroughs to be more significant than a college degree.

The Adams Idea

Eric Adams, the incoming mayor of New York City, promised to transform the city into a cryptocurrency and blockchain hub shortly after taking office. Aside from that, he believes that the US government should include new school courses to allow younger generations to learn about the benefits of the digital asset sector:

“We must open our schools to teach the technology, to teach this new way of thinking when it comes down to paying for goods and services.”

A few months later, the politician reaffirmed his support for cryptocurrency, stating that he will get his first three paychecks as mayor in bitcoin rather than US dollars.
