South Korea’s biggest car producer Hyundai is the first to join the field of community nonfungible tokens. The company will be the first automaker to join the NFT train and the organization will launch 30 limited digital collectibles in collaboration with Meta Kongz. The car company released a film depicting “Metamoibiliy Universe” which reflects on the entity’s NFT endeavors. In the film, the Meta Kongz gorilla character drives from Earth to Moon and shows how mobility opportunities can transcend time and space but the movie also teases a shooting start shaped NFT that will be launched in May.
To celebrate its debut, Hyundai Motors issued 30 limited NFTs and by doing so, it became the only carmaker to enter the NFT marketplace. The Global Chief Marketing Officer Thomas Schemera said:
“The Hyundai NFT universe will extend the Hyundai brand experience, especially with MZ generation, in a completely new way, further reinforcing our commitment to innovation in both the real world and in the Metaverse. We are extremely excited to introduce “Metamobility” through our own NFTs and start this journey with “Meta Kongz.”
Popular car brands already issued NFT tokens but these collectibles were luxury automobiles that were created virtually and sold to certain collectors. On the other hand, the company is the first to design community-based NFTs which enable owners to join the space. Speaking of the renewed automakers that entered the NFTs, it is worth mentioning that Ferrari and McLaren did the same. At the end of 2021, the Italian brand signed a new partnership with the Swiss company Velas Network to release digital collectibles for fans.
The CEO at Velas, Farhan Shagulyamov described Ferrari as an icon of excellence and opined that the collaboration came as a natural move. The Scuderia Ferrari racing division is the most successful team in Formula 1 and the NFTs were expected to create a strong enthusiasm among the fan base. McLaren Racing joined the craze by launching a digital art collection on Tezos and the first NFT drop featured different parts of a Formula 1 race which the collectors were able to purchase.
